The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from the oldest vineyards in Rioja Alta, farmed ecologically without artificial pesticides. Manual selection in these parcels ensures that the unique characteristics of the regional soil and climate are fully expressed.

This limited-edition Reserva is produced only in exceptional vintages. It undergoes ageing for at least 18 months in French oak barrels, followed by an additional 20 months of refinement in the bottle before release.

Only 12,000 bottles produced. An amazing find a few years ago from Spain. At 19 years old, it was drinking well from the get go with very little airtime. Circa 30mins or so. A very oak heavy wine but despite its age, it’s still a very fruity wine full of black fruit and plum flavours. Slightly spicy nose of pepper and other spices. Really enjoyed this.

Well Hello 👋 New Rioja Friend. 200 Monges = 200 monks. Represents the old ways this 🍷 was made ( serpentino find). Original wine 🍷 caves still on the property. 💯 Tempranillo. Intoxicating nose of spices, lavender and dark cherry. Incredible palate richness with loads of black cherry and plum in a Dance with exotic spices and licorice. The finish was in minutes and attests to the ancient old ways of 🍷 making. Special stuff. Delicious. No food partner needed here. In a great place.

Zoom tasting with WEA. On the nose, wild strawberry, red cherry, red plum, new leather, milk chocolate, dark mushroom, red miso paste, vanilla, forest floor, potting soil. 🗓: 2006 🍇: 100% Tempranillo 👁: Deep ruby colour 👃: Pronounced nose. Notes of oak, some vanilla, cherry, blackcurrant, leather, minerals 👅: Dry, high acidity, high tannins, 13.5% abv, medium+ body, palate is similar to nose, medium to medium+ length finish This is 16 years old but the acidity and tannins is still rather high! Love the nose. After breathing, the palate became very balanced and enjoyable. 4.7 pts for me.
