The vineyard

The grapes originate from vineyards with an average age of 35 years, located on the gentle slopes of the Finca Vega Sicilia. These plots sit at an altitude of 700 to 900 meters above sea level, on calcium-rich soils that contribute freshness and structure to the fruit.

Winemaking

Following a manual harvest, the wine undergoes its first year of aging in French and American oak barrels. It then spends the second year in large wooden vats to harmonize its components and enhance its refinement.

10 yrs old and sooo smooth, silky, balanced and lovely, a true marvel! The Valbuena is clearly not a 2nd wine anymore from the unmatched Unico, but has an earned status on its own. Perfect to drink now giving it some time of air, but easy to hold for many more yrs. Cheers

A superb wine. Deep purple colour in the glass. A fantastic mix on the nose: cherry, pepper, dark fruit and a recently opened cigar box. All aromas are clear and clean. The wine is bold and dry with strong tannins and pleasant acidity. You just feel the Iberian sun in the glass of this wine. On the palate there are plum, cherry, chocolate and god knows what. A very long aftertaste. Magnificent!

Extraordinary balance of luscious fruit, silky tannins, and medium acidity. Over the course of two hours, the wine continued to evolve, becoming deeper, darker, even more elegant. Wow! garnet dense red gorgeous wine, power and concentrated finesse with immediate flavors of ripe red plum, generous evolving lush currant raspberry and cherry wrapped in oaky firm tannins, wild stone herbs, with cedar and mild anise. A long earthy cedar finish is noted. Very comprable to its more expensive Único brother. This Tinto Fino and Merlot is fantastico!! Would love to cellar 2 cases for the future!! A truly great classical lovely wine!!
