Quinta Sardonia Sardón 2021

A dry red wine from V.T. Castilla y León produced by the Quinta Sardonia winery. It offers aromas of ripe plum, espresso, and Mediterranean herbs, complemented by a medium-to-full body and creamy tannins.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Tempranillo, Garnacha, Malbec, Syrah, Albillo
  • D.O. / Region: V.T. Castilla y León
  • Winery: Quinta Sardonia
  • Soil / Altitude: Clay and sand
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: Foudres, used barrels, and concrete

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from selected vineyards along the Duero Valley, grown on light clay and sandy soils. The blend includes fruit from small plots of old bush vines, some planted as early as 1867, farmed under organic guidelines.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Following manual harvesting and strict selection, fermentation takes place at moderate temperatures with a portion of whole clusters. The wine is aged in large foudres, used French oak barrels, and concrete tanks to refine the tannins while preserving fruit freshness.

Why buy it

This red wine showcases the diversity of the Duero Valley with remarkable freshness and fruit character. Its balanced structure makes it a versatile addition to your cellar. Farty smell, dry as a nun, a vague venomous flavor- gravel? Tannin city.

We loved this wine! Beautiful long legs and flavors of oak, dark fruit and a touch of spice. We paired this with our grilled ribeye and homegrown vegetables. We would buy this again.

Its solid black fruit is lifted by a touch of salty flavor and giving the wine density and chewiness in the background note of dried jujubes.

Expecting a bit of a full bodied brute at 15%, but surprisingly smooth and approachable. Dark berries, plums and a hint of vanilla on the nose. Fairly bold, yet light and refreshing on the palate. The fruit hits first, then hints of oak, alcohol very present but not overpowering, finish and tannins extend substantially on the 2nd glass. Would definitely buy again, don't really understand the lower ratings on the app given this price point.

Pours a deep purple. Nose has baked fruit — plums, blueberry. Fresh zap of acid; well-composed tannins with notes of leather, plum skins, terracotta.

This wine tastes of BlackBerry, black cherry and tobacco. It has medium tannins, medium plus acidity and a medium Plus finish. It's a powerful wine but needs a little more aging.

A superb entry level wine from this very good but unfashionable wine. Unfashionable as the cellar is a few hundred metres from the all important RDD demarcation line. 93% Tempranillo 3% Grenache 2% Cabernet Sauvignon 2% Malbec Only 6/12 in Oak but then 6/12 in Concrete tanks. Full bodied with significant yet smooth tannic structure. It oozes fresh aromatic fruit of a distinct phenolic element. Very good QPR More please 😋 🍷🍷🍷🍷

Bold and expressive. Sardón 2020 hits with dark cherry, raspberry, licorice, and black pepper. Big tannins give it structure and grip, perfect for pairing with grilled meats. Rustic yet balanced—great character and depth.
