Marqués De Riscal Gran Reserva 2016 Magnum

Marqués de Riscal Gran Reserva 2016 es un vino tinto seco de alta gama, elaborado mayoritariamente con uva Tempranillo y otras variedades autorizadas por la D.O.Ca Rioja. Esta etiqueta refleja el compromiso constante de Marqués de Riscal con la innovación y la excelencia, consolidándose como un referente en el panorama vitivinícola español.

Para este Gran Reserva, la bodega selecciona exclusivamente uvas procedentes de viñedos históricos de más de 80 años, ya sean de propiedad o de colaboradores viticultores de confianza. Tras una cuidadosa selección de los vinos más destacados de la añada, el coupage se cría en barricas de roble francés durante un periodo que varía entre 30 y 36 meses. Posteriormente, el vino reposa en botella durante al menos otros tres años, afinando su carácter antes de salir al mercado.

Perfecto para acompañar jamón ibérico, quesos curados, carnes rojas, asados tradicionales y guisos de caza, este vino es ideal para ocasiones especiales o para ampliar tu colección personal.

Happy Rioja vs. Rhône Tuesday! In the first corner tonight, this very nice Rioja GR from a renowed and reliable producer! 👍🏻 90% Tempranillo, along with Graciano and Mazuelo. Old vines over 80 years of age. Black cherry, rose, eucalyptus, mocha, iron, and leather on the nose. Firm fine tannins with concentrated cherry and balsamic on the palate, along with nice mineral tension. Finish is long and spicy. Superbly complex wine! Exceptional vintage, happy to have more bottles! 👍🏻😋

Delicious Grand Reserva Rioja! 👃: Lovely deep and intense nose with aromas of blackberries, black cherries, oak, vanilla, tobacco, spice, leather. 👅: Dry, smooth, harmonic and concentrated with the same notes as on the nose. Well balanced with good structure. Medium-high acidity. Nice character and depth. Long finish.

At a recent mini-Cabal, with some of the members of the group meeting for wine and dinner at the incredible River Cafe. Theme was "quality wines under $100"...normally we are well north of that! 😂 Youthful exuberance (which could be said of all the wines on this night) on this 2016 Gran Reserva from quality producer Marqués de Riscal. It's the 150th anniversary (aka sesquicentenial 😁) of this wine, which is a Tempranillo blend (15% Cabernet Sauvignon). Tasty! 👍 🍷

Given the way this wine traveled back to me - well, it couldn’t do anything else but deliver. And oh boy, did it. Gorgeous and very serious on the nose. Very mature fruit aromas - cherry, black currant. Different spices, hints of roses, herbs. Pine trees and grass in the field. Truly spectacular aftertaste - goes on for a rather long time. A bit of pleasant sourness - red cherry - towards the end. Goes to more of a neutral with the last glass. Still enjoyable.

Deep ruby color. Strength : medium plus Body : full Acidity : medium plus Tannin : smooth but medium high Finish : Long Green bell pepper is the first smell that I recognized. Vanilla, toast, well ripen black cherry. Very elegant, good balance Rioja.

Really nice wine with notes of black fruits, oak, leather, tobacco, pencil shavings, and wax. On the palate I got blackberries, oak, vanilla, and tobacco with a medium to full body, strong but integrated tannins, dry and a lingering finish.

Hazelnut amazing texture on mouth, you have to be patient in nose. On mouth the fireworks arrive at the end. Quiet on nose blueberry and mushroom and truffle like wet wood and earthy, good sign to be a gran reserva. Vanilla oak mud leather and more hazelnut 👌🏼 nuts 🌰 and chocolate

Nose has oak, tobacco, leather, plum, pepper and kirsch. Palate is rather incomplete with chocolate, black cherry and vanilla - but not in a generous, berryful way. The mouthfeel is OK but rather short. Not a brilliant Gran Reserva, but not a simpleton either. Actually a very decent QPR 🤘🏻
