La Fleur Vivaltus 2017 Magnum

This dry red wine from the D.O. Ribera del Duero is crafted by Vivaltus winery using Tempranillo grapes. It features aromas of ripe black fruits and floral notes, balanced by structured tannins and a fresh acidity.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Tempranillo
  • D.O. / Region: D.O. Ribera del Duero
  • Winery: Vivaltus
  • Soil / Altitude: Altitude of 840-1000 m
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 11 months in French oak

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from old vines aged between 70 and 100 years in the Valle del Cuco. Situated at altitudes of up to 1,000 meters, these vineyards benefit from a microclimate that ensures slow ripening and remarkable freshness.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

The winemaking process relies entirely on gravity flow and meticulous optical grape selection. Following natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts, the wine is aged for 11 months in fine-grained French oak barrels.

Its refined structure and complex aromatic profile make it ideal for special occasions. To enhance your collection, you can buy La Fleur Vivaltus 2017 Magnum online directly from our boutique.

A dry Ribera similar to a Bordeaux; dry acidic with hints of tobacco, black currant, tobacco, and oak

It's been quite a while since I last had a Spanish wine—the first wines I ever started drinking. Good acidity that brings freshness and balance. Dry, with notes of oak, earthy, and dark fruit.

Dark and brooding toffee, oak, prune, graphite and black pepper. Powerful dry wine with austere tannins and good acidity. Savoury. Needs a good 30min decant at least to soften. Second wine of Vivaltus… the first must be a power house!

This was probably the surprise wine of the trip. The intense bouquet of violets was mesmerizing and hard to let go, or focus on the conversation in front of me. I could have smelled this wine for hours. Rich, medium + palate. Very well balanced and a beautiful finish. Overall round in palate. But the nose …the nose….❤️ I honestly didn’t know RdD could smell like this. Enjoyed with my friend @[1|59948325|Santiago Martinez-Villalba] 🎯

I tasted it one year ago and it was much more alive. It seems that time didnt made it any good.

This excelent smooth piece shows ripe dark fruit notes—blackberry and plum—layered with hints of violet, cocoa, and gentle spice. On the palate it’s smooth and elegant, with fine tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, refined finish with subtle oak and mineral touches.

Surprisingly a very nice fruity and easy to drink Ribera wine. Won’t lose to some of the good Rioja I have tasted. Very reasonably priced as it’s really a good bottle of wine. Just got back from my Bali trip and didn’t really try any good wines in Bali. Enjoyed this wine and will buy again

Not the most aromatic or fruit forward smell, however, had a nice balance of flavour and complexity. Wish it was a bit more punchy in the mids. Notes of chocolate leather rubber red bell pepper cigar box

Retained the branding sticker on the wrapper with the letters “VA”! My absolutely nemesis wine vocab. I have encountered more wines with bad VA than TCA. Joke aside! Such a polished RdD, fresher by style (low PH), moderate extract and slight reductive. Typicity aromas, flavors with potential. Velvety texture and vibrant. Good length… time will tell.

From winemakers: Jean Claude Berrouet (former Petrus wine maker) & Monto Martinez. We have a different Ribera here. A fresher version, with herbal nuances, flowers and wild red fruit flavors. Tense acidity and smooth tannins. Tempranillo (96%), Cabernet Sauvignon (3%) and Merlot (1 %). Old vines from the most iconie areas in Ribera del Duero at 750m. to 1000m. above the sea level. Ageing: 90% of the wine: 9 months in extra fine French oak barrels, 10% unoaked.

Seldom enjoy wines from Ribera del Duero but had the first wine (blind) a few days ago and really enjoyed it. Decided to buy this for a go and was not disappointed. Crafted by winemaker Montfort Martinez w Jean-Claude Berrouet from Pétrus consulting; wine was bold, strong red and black fruit. Thyme, chocolate, vanilla and some balsamic. Palate was bold, good tension, fresh, with balanced acidity and tannins. Magnum bottle and enjoyed slowly throughout the night. Enjoyable.

Polished and expressive—this is a stylish Ribera blend.
Deep ruby with aromas of blackberry, plum, and floral spice. The palate is sleek and modern, with juicy black fruit, smooth tannins, and a touch of oak. Medium to full-bodied with fresh acidity and a clean, balanced finish. Refined and approachable, with plenty of charm.

Clear deep ruby in color with medium plus intensity and notes of blackberry, bramble, soy sauce, spice, and forest floor. This wine is dry with high acid, full body, high alcohol, high tannins, and a medium finish. 91/100

Another great RdD. Great blend with a lot of complexity and deep. Love temp on 🇫🇷 oak. Darker fruits on the nose more towards red fruits in the palate.
