Flor de Pingus 2016

This dry red wine from D.O. Ribera del Duero is produced by the Dominio de Pingus winery using Tempranillo grapes. It offers a fresh profile with aromas of orange peel and floral notes, balanced by structured tannins and a persistent finish.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Tempranillo
  • D.O. / Region: D.O. Ribera del Duero
  • Winery: Dominio de Pingus
  • Soil / Altitude: Altitude of 700-850 meters
  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 18 months in French oak barrels

The vineyard

The grapes are sourced from 35 hectares of vineyards located in the village of La Horra. These plots are situated at altitudes between 700 and 850 meters, featuring vines aged between 30 and 55 years.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

An early harvest is conducted to preserve the natural acidity and freshness of the fruit. The wine then undergoes aging for 18 months in French oak barrels before bottling.

Why buy it

This red wine represents one of the most refined expressions of Tempranillo in the region, crafted under the guidance of Peter Sisseck. Its balance and structure ensure excellent aging potential for your cellar. If you are looking for a world-class bottle, you can buy Flor de Pingus 2016 online directly from our store.

Deep and seductive, with ripe blackberry, dark cherry, violet and sweet spice. Rich and concentrated yet remarkably silky, with polished tannins, freshness and a long, luxurious finish.

oak vanilla blackberry leather tobacco plum Heavily perfumed and highly fragrant. It opens with intense layers of dark cherry, wild cranberries, raspberry, and crushed blackberries Full-bodied yet remarkably lively and fluid. It delivers an explosion of ripe red and black fruits on entry. Nice acidity Exceptionally long finish and clean. It leaves impressions of cocoa.

This is a superb, high end Ribera, one of my favorite regions. Still drinking young, with pronounced black cherries and slightly unripe blueberries, fused with earthy leather and tobacco. Finishes very long and dry.

94/100. Mulled cherry, cedar, and lots of spice (cardamom, bay leaf, and licorice) on the nose. On the palate, kirsch, licorice, and vanilla with elegant but powerful tannins and very nice acidity. Moderate-to-long finish.

58th BDay celebration, Magnum Bottle. Flor de Pingus 2015 has achieved 96 points in Peñín Guide, thus placing it on the podium of the best Spanish wines. Black fruits, spices and smoked background. Fresh and elegant, very soft, with notes typical of its barrel ageing.

Flor de pingus is the second wine of Pingus. Made from old vine, Tempranillo. BlackBerry, cedar, chocolate and a hint of tar. Super soft tannins, silky smooth. Very refined and well balanced. Love this wine.

It's all about fruit! thinner than other vintages and much softer. Fruit concentration very high. As other Ribera, 2016 is a very "ready to drink" vintages. It will improve, but I don't think it will gain more character, just aromas and flavours.

This terrific wine was by Christmas indulgence. This is the little brother of €1000+ Pingus, but an amazing wine by its own right. A very subtle and nuanced Tempranillo perfectly mature and drinkable. Nose is very floral but palate is bold and fresh. It is very difficult to say what I like the most because this red evolves quickly in the glass. Need brief decanting. Hold but preferably drink.

Such a great wine and gorgeous evolution and still with very big potential. Decanted for 2 hours, lovely. Very rich and complex. Beautiful notes of blackberry, plum, cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry, also dark chocolate, vanilla, tobacco, licorice and spices. Firm tannin, medium acidity and a very long finish. Great earthy notes in the end.

This is the second label from Dominio de Pingus from oenologist Peter Sisseck. The wine shows clear and bright with a medium ruby red color and presence of legs. The nose is clean and developing , displaying medium intensity aromas of boysenberries, woodsmoke, cedar, shaved vanilla, chocolate truffle, floral dark plums, anise and licorice root . Full- bodied, firm and chewy textured with lots of pure dark fruit extraction , smooth tannins and ending in a focused and long lasting length of great freshness!!
