Descendientes de J. Palacios Moncerbal 2024 is a prestigious red wine produced by Descendientes de J. Palacios, the renowned winery of Álvaro Palacios and Ricardo Pérez Palacios, under the D.O. Bierzo designation. Sourced from vineyards in Corullón, this wine represents one of the most distinctive expressions of Mencía, standing out for its depth, concentration and aromatic complexity.

The grapes come from a collection of small vineyard plots in the Moncerbal site, covering a total area of approximately 2.1 hectares. The wine is made from 89% Mencía, 8% Alicante Bouschet and 3% white grape varieties, mainly Jerez (Palomino). This combination of traditional varieties reflects the vineyard's diversity and contributes to the wine's richness and distinctive character.

The 2024 vintage displays a particularly intense and structured character. Unlike previous vintages, Moncerbal reveals a more powerful expression, closer to the style traditionally associated with Las Lamas. Following the challenges experienced during exceptionally dry years such as 2020 and 2022, this vintage recaptures the depth and identity that define this emblematic wine from Bierzo.

Fermentation takes place with partially destemmed grapes in oak vats, followed by a 46-day maceration period that encourages the extraction of aromas, colour and tannins. The result is a wine of remarkable concentration and structure that preserves the precision and distinctive expression of its origin.

Production was extremely limited, with only 2,982 bottles, along with a small number of larger formats. Bottled in March 2026, Moncerbal 2024 stands out for its intensity, depth and excellent potential for further development in the bottle.

An excellent accompaniment to red meats, roast lamb, game dishes, mushrooms, traditional stews and aged cheeses. Best served between 15 and 17°C. Its concentration and structure give it excellent ageing potential.
