  • Ageing / Cellaring potential: 17 months in French oak barrels / High cellaring potential

The vineyard

The vineyards of Château Giscours span the prestigious Médoc region on the left bank of the Gironde River. The parcels within the AOC Margaux appellation benefit from an exceptional microclimate and soils perfectly suited for cultivating red grape varieties.

Ideal combination

Winemaking

Following a rigorous optical and manual selection, fermentation takes place in concrete and stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 17 months in French oak barrels to develop its complexity and refine its structure.

Enoteca Bordeaux Wine Experience – Vintage 2023 Tasting notes: Berry and licorice aromas, with a touch of sweetness on the finish and a slight peppery tingling sensation. The pyrazine notes are well integrated and no longer noticeable.

A Blend of 71% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Merlot and 6% Cabernet Franc. On the nose displaying fresh black cherries, cassis and blueberries, layered with lifted floral lilacs and violets and subtle touches of cocoa nibs, cedarwood and graphite. Medium- bodied and fruit - forward yet structured. It features juicy red and dark fruit, perfectly integrated acidity and finely grained , chalky tannins that provide elegance and persistence. Long, delicate and delightfully fresh, finishing on a classic, signature saline note!

An add on at our Bordeaux tasting tonight. Suppose to be wine spectators number one for the year! It is definitely young but softer than I expected. Black cherry and cocoa notes.

Opaque crimson. Hour decant. Nose is tight, but expresses leather, fruit and subtle spice Palate is cassis, blackberry, subtle blueberry. Licorice, cocoa, subtle mint. Medium+ body, intense tannins, medium+ acidity, great structure. This one is going to be great in 5-10 years. Had to try it though because of WS score. It’s very good and would score higher if it was closer to its drinking window. Cheers!

UGC 2023 44/74 🥉of 10 in Margaux.Got to try this next to a giscour 15 that was near peak for me. This 23 is far from it, due to tannin (that is why I rate wines not for sale, for peak score, to be far) A mid garnet color. Lots of bell pepper on the nose. And very earthy and cedar vibes in the tasting palatr. Also with some black fruit. Mid bodied and a mid length finish. Made from 71% CS, 23% Merlot, 6% CF .$70 (but that doesn't include tariffs) Estimated 92-94 points at peak. JD 94-96, RP 94-96, TA 91

Third Classified Growth from the Margaux appellation. This vintage is 71% CS, 23% Merlot and 6% CF, aged for 17 months in 50% new French oak. Third vintage I’ve tried, and had a lot of expectations after really enjoying the 2018 and even the challenging 2021. All these wines are still way before their ideal drinking window, but expected more - will love to revisit it some years down the road. Tasting notes below: blackberry ; oak ; pepper ; plum PS: this is based on a small amount tried at the UGCB event.

Perswijn UGCB 2026. Thick structure immediately signals the Left Bank. A slightly earthy tone runs through the wine, joined by floral notes of rose typical for Margaux. It feels somewhat dense and misses a touch of freshness, though the build remains solid.
