Château d'Esclans Whispering Angel Rosé 2025

This dry rosé wine from the AOC Côtes de Provence is crafted by Château d'Esclans using Garnacha, Cinsault, and Vermentino grapes. It features an aromatic profile of red berries and soft spices, balanced by a vibrant acidity and a medium-bodied palate.

Key facts

  • Grape variety: Garnacha, Cinsault, Vermentino
  • D.O. / Region: AOC Côtes de Provence

The 2025 Whispering Angel, the flagship rosé of Château d’Esclans and one of Provence’s most recognisable names, shows a more refined side of the style. The nose is delicate and inviting, with white peach, melon, strawberry and pink grapefruit, lifted by florals and a touch of citrus peel. Soft and rounded on the palate, with ripe fruit balanced by fresh acidity and a subtle creamy texture. A gentle mineral note brings extra lift and keeps the finish fresh. Always a pleasure.

The beautiful warm weather continues, so why not pop another rose. The palest peachy pink. The nose is aromatic, seductive, and layered. Peach, apple, and pear are in the fore, while strawberry and cream play the second fiddle. In that sense it feels inverted, making it much more interesting. Dry, firmly structured with refreshing acidity making the palate vibrate. Flavourful with everything presented to the nose still here. Strawberries and cream mark the finish, and it's quite long. Lives up to the reputation!

This is an excellent rose if ever there was one! The nose is prominent with strawberry and grapefruit. The palate is awash with raspberry and citrus fruits. It is acidic without being being off putting! Excellent rose! And I didn’t even have it chilled

I rarely drink Rosé but a recent event I gave on the theme, and the many heatwaves made me open this one! Strawberry and melon candy, lemon and grapefruit, a hint of crushed rocks and white pepper. Good richness, mouth-filling with a great acidity, a chalky tightening texture and a fine grapefruit bitterness on a fruity and lengthy finish. Not only for the price but also for the expression, I prefer this wine to the overdone and overconstructed Rock Angel. 89 13% abv, reconstituted cork.

Without a doubt, as the years go by, I try more wines, learn more, and my palate becomes much more refined. But there is simply nothing quite like a wine from cotes de Provence, and among the ones available in Mexico, this one is by far the best. Extremely elegant and silky on the palate, bone dry, with beautiful peach notes. Absolutely delicious. Perfect with a grilled cheese sandwich with apricot jam or seared scallops.

The most famous rosé in the world, and it does earn the reputation. Barely-there pale pink. The nose is delicate but precise — wild strawberry, white peach, pink grapefruit and a dry, stony minerality. The palate is dry, crisp and beautifully clean: fresh red berry, a saline finish, no sweetness, no rough edges, perfectly judged weight. Utterly consistent and impossible to dislike. More polished than exciting, and you do pay for the label — but the wine in the glass genuinely holds up.

This is actually cool, interesting and worth the hype. It’s got this orange and stone fruit character along with a crunch green apple on the palate. It’s a really complex and drinkable rose.

Château d'Esclans Whispering Angel Rosé 2025 from Côtes de Provence, France. Overall a very good rosé with great balance, good complexity, good intensity, and a good finish. Look: pale copper Smell: moderate aromas of cherry, raspberry, lemon, melon, minerals Taste: dry, medium+ acid, medium body, low tannins, moderate alcohol (13%), and a moderate+ finish length tasting of strawberry, tart grapefruit, peach, wet stone
