Málaga has one of the oldest wine traditions in Spain. D.O. Málaga is famous for its sweet wines from Moscatel and Pedro Ximénez, such as Lágrima and Pajarete, and for the Moscatels of the Axarquía, where grapes are still dried in the sun on paseros. D.O. Sierras de Málaga covers the province’s dry wines: fresh Moscatel whites and, in the Serranía de Ronda, high-altitude reds from grapes such as the native Romé. And an hour from the coast, the Jerez area provides the finos and manzanillas poured in every beach bar.
