Dry, dark fruit, medium body and tannins. Better to let it aerate for a bit and serve slightly chilled. Overall pretty good.

A light bodied easy drinker, 100% sousón, a varietal with which I am unfamiliar. It has left an impression after one week. I’ll buy it again.

Enjoyed this very much. A little drier than some of the blends, but definitely drinkable by itself. Did let it breath for a bit.

Description

A cherry-red wine with ruby edges and pinkish highlights, clean and bright. On the nose, fresh red fruit stands out, along with balsamic notes, menthol and hints of liquorice. On the palate, its entry is smooth and fruity, with cherries and raspberries, tasty tannins and good acidity. Medium finish, balanced and with a light touch of sweetness and bitterness that invites another sip.

The Flower and the Bee The Flower and the Bee2022 is an exceptional red wine made with the Sousão variety by the Coto de Gomariz winery, located in the DO Ribeiro. This wine represents the starting point to delve into the essence of Gomariz wines, a faithful reflection of the grape and the terroir, ideal for understanding more complex elaborations. The flower and the bee symbolize the origin of everything in the vineyard and are the central inspiration for this project.

Coming from young vineyards in Gomariz, the plants are trained on trellises and double Royat and Guyot pruning is used, with densities between 5.000 and 7.200 plants per hectare. Under a sustainable viticulture approach free of toxic chemicals, the soils are mainly composed of granitic sands, respecting nature and its balance as much as possible.

The grapes are harvested manually, carefully selecting the bunches on the farm and transporting them in 18 kg boxes for later selection at the table. Maceration and fermentation are carried out at a low temperature with native yeasts, guaranteeing a natural process that respects the characteristics of the grape. The wine spends 4 months in barrels to achieve a slight rounding, followed by refining in the tank and resting for at least one month in the bottle before being released to the market. Bottled in July 2023.

Discover and buy this wine, which combines sustainability, authenticity and a unique sensory experience, reflecting tradition and respect for the Ribeiro terroir.
