This wine displays subtle aromas of blackberry intertwined with spicy nuances from the oak, enhancing its fruity character. On the palate, it exhibits a pleasant density, yet not heavy, with a silky, balanced texture and smooth firmness. The aftertaste reveals notes of caramel and blueberries, still with a certain intensity.
Telmo Rodriguez Matallana 2020 is a prestigious dry red wine, made from a meticulous selection of varieties such as Tinto Fino (a mass selection of the best Ribera vineyards), Navarro, Valenciano, Albillo and others, all grown within the DO Ribera del Duero. Since 1998, Telmo Rodríguez has reinterpreted the Ribera del Duero, exploring from the limestone slopes in the north of Sotillo de la Ribera to the reddish mountains of Pardilla in the south. Analysis of the soils and landscapes of five different villages revealed the possibility of creating an exceptionally unique Ribera del Duero wine.
The 2020 vintage marks a milestone with the addition of Jean-Guillaume Prats (formerly Cos d'Estournel, Lafite, etc.) to the project. This will be the first time this wine is marketed through La Place de Bordeaux's renowned négociant system. The grapes from the five villages—whose names appear crossed out on the label—were harvested between October 6 and 18, fermented with native yeasts in stainless steel tanks and oak vats. The wine then rested for 14 months in French oak barrels.
With a slightly more mature profile than the 2019 vintage, 19.624 bottles were produced, bottled in May 2022. A true gem for those who want to buy wine online and discover the most refined essence of Ribera del Duero.
