Top notch but still young. Has a charming vanilla nose that comes back later in your palate as well with some cinnamon. Thick, great. Lovely.

Not on the level of the 2020 but still a pretty decent wine. This time there is less complexity to it, with the oak dominating and more pronounced

Grapes grown on over 100 year old vines. Developed black fruits. Harsh tannins, think this will do nicely with a few more years.

The second bottle we’ve ordered at Creavino is more recent with just 3y of age. A good thing as this one actually has tension with better acids,

Description

Explore this wine with an intense cherry red color with violet tones on the edge, standing out for its dense layer. On the nose, it reveals maximum complexity, with a wealth of subtle nuances and medium intensity. Enjoy the sophisticated range of aromas that include ripe black fruits, complemented by creamy and sweet touches from the barrel, ending with elegant spicy notes. In the mouth, the wine is extremely smooth, showing a fullness and voluptuousness that seduces with every sip. It also stands out for its flavor complexity, the result of excellent maturation, attributed to the low yield of old vineyards.

Discover Matsu El Viejo 2021, a select red wine made exclusively from 100% Tinta de Toro grapes, originating from the prestigious Toro designation of origin. This wine encapsulates the essence of time and the legacy of several generations of winegrowers dedicated to growing vines in the countryside. Representing youth, maturity and old age, Matsu El Viejo It is one of the four unique wines of the DO Toro, whose production has evolved over more than a century thanks to grapes from century-old vineyards and the most traditional winemaking techniques.

This wine comes from a selection of century-old vineyards with a very restricted production, naturally cultivated on sandy soils enriched with granite. The harvest is carried out by hand between September 22 and October 15, guaranteeing the selection of the best grapes. During its production, the wine is macerated for 14 days and fermented spontaneously in 15,000 kg concrete tanks with indigenous yeasts. Malolactic fermentation also takes place in these tanks, and the wine is gently filtered and clarified in a non-aggressive manner to preserve its natural properties. Finally, Matsu El Viejo 2021 matures for 16 months in new French oak barrels, adding character and complexity.

For those interested in purchasing wine online, Matsu El Viejo 2021 offers a taste experience deeply rooted in winemaking history and tradition.
