The Macán 2018 Magnum red wine, made with the Tempranillo strain in the DO Ca. Rioja by Macán Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia, is presented as an exceptional product that stands out for its elegance and subtlety. This wine is the result of the collaboration between Tempos Vega Sicilia and the Barón Edmond de Rothschild Wine Company, giving rise to the winery in 2004. The shared vision of producing exceptional wines in the only wine-growing region of Rioja took shape in 2009 with the first vintages of Macán and Macán Clásico, consolidating in 2013 with the definitive launch of the brand.

The facilities of Bodegas Benjamin de Rothschild & Vega Sicilia are located in Samaniego, with 100 hectares of its own vineyards in the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria, north of the Ebro River, in municipalities such as San Vicente de la Sonsierra, Labastida, Ábalos and Elvillar. These plots are mainly dedicated to the Tempranillo grape, used exclusively in the production of Macán and Macán Clásico. The uniqueness of these wines is influenced by the mild climate with Atlantic, Mediterranean and continental nuances, the altitude of 500 meters above sea level and the average age of the vineyard of 38 years.

The harvest is carried out manually in 12 kg boxes, followed by alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, carried out in stainless steel tanks and barrels. The aging, which lasts 15 months, is carried out mainly in new French wooden barrels with fine and extra fine grain, with a minimum part in barrels that are one year old.
