Well balanced. Berries. Open air fermented in hand carved granite tanks. Surprisingly no funkiness considering the open air. Maybe because of

As the back label alludes to, this is not about the fruit (though there’s enough bramble, cassis & black cherry to keep me happy) but more

Last night we had an impromptu meet up with Nicole, Dani and families. A great evening of nice sparklings, nice red wines and a TON of food.

Wouldn't know it's syrah if tasted blind. Earthy, spices, the fruits comes later. Texture is quite smooth. Interesting wine.

After enjoying this producer's Riesling, I couldn't resist uncorking this 100% Syrah - also grown in Spain's highest vineyards at 1000m asl.

A very different Syrah, from Spain, from the Pyrenees, from 1,000 m altitude. Fermented partly in Roman times stone vats. Bouquet full of leather

Description

A violet-red wine with aromas of chocolate and plum dominated by a nose, subtly accompanied by fine tobacco, blackberry jam, and delicate hints of cinnamon. The palate is vibrant and full of tension, with flavors of fresh cherry and vanilla, supported by sweet and elegant tannins. Its finish is persistent and complex, leaving pleasant notes of licorice in the aftertaste.

Castell d'Encus Thalarn 2019, a red wine with Costers del Segre Designation of Origin, is the creation of Bodegas Castell d'Encus. This exquisite wine with 100% Syrah embodies the passion and dedication of the winery. Founded in 2001 by Raül Bobet, inspired by the historical and natural wealth of the region, Castell d'Encus stands in an idyllic landscape between 800 and 950 meters above sea level, framed by forests and the ruins of the old medieval town of Castelló d'Encus. In addition, the vineyards of Santa Engràcia (at 1.000 meters) and Astell (at 1.230 meters) are added, expanding the spectrum of flavors and aromas.

The grape harvest is carried out manually in 10 kg boxes, using only grapes from the estate itself. The wine ferments in various containers—stone wine presses, wooden vats, and stainless steel tanks—which provides complexity and distinctive nuances. Subsequently, 100% of the wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in French oak barrels, achieving a refined texture and elegant aromatic profile.

If you're looking for a wine with its own character and carefully crafted, this is the perfect time to buy wine online and enjoy the Castell d'Encus Thalarn 2019.
