La Baixada 2022, an exceptional red wine with a blend of Grenache and Cariñena, is meticulously created by renowned Spanish winemaker Álvaro Palacios, within the DO Ca. Priorat in Gratallops, Catalonia. Renowned for his outstanding Grenache-based wines in Priorat, Álvaro Palacios established the winery in 1990, playing a key role in the rise of Priorat as one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain.
The production of Les Terrasses is based on grapes from a single classified plot of 1,30 hectares – La Baixada. It has vines approximately 20 years old, carefully arranged on terraces at an altitude of 300 meters above sea level, on characteristic licorella soils, a slate typical of the region, with steep slopes. Organic farming is carried out, applying biodynamic treatments and respecting the lunar cycles in all stages of the process.
In the winery, the clusters are delicately destemmed and crushed. Next, they ferment with native yeasts in oak vats, with a maceration period of 55 days. Finally, the wine ages for 20 months in French oak barrels.
